Confessions of a Left-Hand Knitter

Exploring the Possibilities

on April 23, 2013

So… I slept through the first day of my blog-a-thon. I haven’t been feeling well and I went to the doctors yesterday and still worked. Needless to say, I was exhausted and passed out as soon as I got home. So here is a belated first day! I will post again today with day 2; however here is the introduction that was supposed to happened 🙂

This week I am participating in the knitting blog as displayed above.  In the reference blog, it asked to discuss what type of knitter are you and what your first projects were like. First, I am going to claim The House of Monkey: Intelligent and with a fun-loving side, Monkeys like to be challenged with every project presenting them with something new and interesting.

Kniting and crochet blog week house of monkey

I began knitting in 2010-2011, due to always wanting to learn. I have been an avid crocheter since 2004. I felt like knitting was just the natural progression in my yarn journey.  Initially, I was very frustrated due to not being able to get the stitches; however after re-adjusting to my hands I was able to complete my first stitch. I completed a garter stitch scarf… before knowing it was a garter stitch was. I then began to dissect each stitch and was a “knit” and a “purl” as well as how things go together.

Those first few months were rough and my first my projects were… interesting, but I learned a lot from those projects. That, Loin Brand Wool Spun is the devil and show not be used for knitting or crocheting; that I prefer woods or metal; and that good things come to people who are patient!

So,  what house would you consider your self to be apart of?

The House of Bee: Bees are busy and industrious, but can flit from one interesting project to the next as bright and shiny things capture their interest.

The House of Manatee: Manatees are gentle, calm and cuddly. Relaxed and un-flashy they represent the comfort and soft side of knitting and crochet.

The House of Monkey: Intelligent and with a fun loving side, Monkeys like to be challenged with every project presenting them with something new and interesting.

The House of Peacock: Peacocks take something good and make it brilliant. Buttons, embellishments and a bit of sparkle prove that perfection lies in the details – like a Peacock’s Tail.

Later on today I will post day 2 and updates on my current WIPs! Later gators!
